Questions about this article, topic, or product? I believe it was setup to use the built in grace period, with regards to RDS licenses. Today, i am receiving the message that there are no remote desktop license servers and therefore i cannot login. I can see that there are no users connected to the box and i figured we should at least be able to connect with the remote admin connections that are allowed by default. Is there anyway i can get past the error message and connect?

I believe this was setup without installing any license packs, so it WAS in that day grace period and i'm thinking this has expired. I do not know exactly when he set it up but chances are that the RDS role was installed and then went unused for a period of time. Would the expiration of the grace period prevent us from getting access using the RDP connections that are typically allowed by default?

Can you not connect via console? It won't help you in the long run but it should allow you to connect as an administrator to recover data etc. Also, i'm not looking to correct the issues with the RDS licensing, i just want to get onto the machine and remove the role entirely, until we are actually ready to do something with it. I have remotely rebooted the VM and verified no users connected. I am guessing there arent any services i can disable, that will force it to revert to the built in remote admin accounts.

These servers allow 2 concurrent connections, for administrative purposes, is that correct? It is, i am able to remotely manage the server and can see it is configured like our other boxes.

I have seen that wireless users are connected to an access point that is not part of the same domain and get this error as well. Also as stated in your thread if this is a VM. Scott - I am receiving an error that the machine cannot be found, when i run server manager remotely.
