This will move the main area of the taskbar to the right of your new Quick Launch bar and place the Quick Launch bar next to the Start button.
Stop when both toolbars are the size you want. You can now drag and drop your favorite applications or shortcuts onto the new Quick Launch toolbar and "unpin" the default applications from the regular taskbar.
